First Aid Kit
A first aid kit is a vital piece of equipment that every person should have in their home and their car. Because potential serious injuries can occur at any time in the home it is always necessary to have the appropriate equipment to respond to such a situation. It is also vital to know how to use, as this type of equipment is of little use when somebody have suffered an injury if nobody knows how to use it properly.
There are many different types of first aid kit ranging from the very simple ones that you may have in your home to the much more advanced and comprehensive sets that may be carried by somebody carrying out a dangerous job. For example a first aid kit carried by a military medic is likely to have a much wider variety of equipment than a kit found in a domestic setting as injuries sustained on a battle field are likely to be much more severe than those that could occur at home.
A typical household first aid kit will usually have a variety of items in it to deal with some common injuries. Bandages, plasters, tweezers, antiseptic wipes and latex gloves are all examples of some the items you could expect to find a very straight forward first aid kit. Some kits will include some more advanced items such as an eye irrigation kit. A first aid kit can usually be recognised by its green colouring. It will usually carry a white or green cross symbol.
